Epoxy flooring is a resin system applied over prepared concrete to create a seamless, hard-wearing and easy-to-clean surface. It is used where floors face spills, frequent washing or hygiene requirements. Types of epoxy flooring
- Epoxy coatings: thin, roller-applied systems for dust-proofing and light traffic

Where epoxy is used
Typical areas include manufacturing plants, automobile workshops, food and pharmaceutical units, laboratories, electrical rooms, service bays and commercial back-of-house areas. Line marking and colour zoning can be built into the floor.
Surface preparation comes first
Most epoxy failures start with the substrate. The concrete is mechanically prepared by grinding or shot blasting, cracks and damaged joints are repaired, and moisture is checked before priming. The chosen system is then applied in layers to the specified thickness.
Choosing the right system
Thickness, texture and resin type should follow the traffic, chemicals, cleaning method and slip resistance needed in each area. For dry storage with heavy traffic, a hardened or polished concrete floor may be the better choice.
