Floor grinding and polishing of a concrete floor

Polished concrete

Floor Grinding & Polishing

Floor grinding and polishing refines the concrete surface itself into a smooth, durable and low-maintenance floor. It is used to restore worn floors, prepare surfaces for coatings and create polished concrete finishes. ASVDF Flooring provides grinding and polishing from Shamshabad, Hyderabad, all over India, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Odisha.

How grinding and polishing works

Planetary floor grinders with diamond tooling remove the weak top layer and surface defects. The floor is then honed and polished through progressively finer grits, each removing the scratches of the one before. A densifier is applied during the process to harden the surface, and a guard can be added for stain resistance.

Concrete densification

Uses

  • Polished concrete for warehouses, showrooms and offices
  • Restoring worn or dusting floors
  • Removing old coatings and adhesives
  • Preparing concrete before epoxy or other coatings

Benefits

  • Dense, abrasion-resistant surface with no coating to peel
  • Reduced dusting and easier cleaning
  • A finish from matte to high sheen, depending on the grit sequence
  • Better light reflection in large spaces

Good to know

Polished concrete depends on the quality of the slab underneath. Cracks and damaged joints should be repaired first, and areas with frequent chemical spills may be better served by an epoxy system.

Frequently asked questions

Grinding uses coarse diamond tools to remove the top layer and level defects. Polishing uses progressively finer tools to refine that surface to the desired smoothness and sheen.
